Mr. Rod Henkel, Principal
Mr. Rod Henkel is the proud Principal of Westwind Elementary School and is honored to be part of a school community known for its outstanding students, supportive families, and dedicated staff.
A Phoenix native, Mr. Henkel comes from a family of educators and proudly served in the United States Air Force before beginning his career in education. Throughout his career, he has taught students in upper elementary and middle school and has served in school leadership, experiences that have shaped his commitment to academic excellence and student success.
Mr. Henkel is passionate about creating a positive learning environment where students are challenged to grow, encouraged to lead, and inspired to achieve their full potential. He believes that strong partnerships between families, staff, and the community are essential to providing every student with a meaningful and rewarding educational experience.
Mr. Henkel values the strong sense of community that makes Westwind such a special place and looks forward to continuing to work alongside students, families, and staff to build on the school's tradition of excellence. Mr. Doug Skarlupka, Assistant Principal
It is with great excitement that we welcome Mr. Doug Skarlupka as the new Assistant Principal of Westwind Elementary School!
Mr. Skarlupka is excited to join the Westwind family and is committed to building strong relationships with students, staff, and families. He believes that every child deserves a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment where they are encouraged to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
As Assistant Principal, Mr. Skarlupka looks forward to working alongside the dedicated Westwind staff to support student achievement, foster a positive school culture, and create meaningful opportunities for every learner to succeed. He values collaboration, open communication, and strong partnerships with families, recognizing that working together is essential to helping students reach their full potential.
